Review for "Another Day Four"

Another Day Four was a beautiful story that uses the music as its dialogue. Its style of animation is exquisite. One of my favorite series in the portal.
I love the style of graphics you have that contrasts with the mood. Usually we see colorful rabbits and think comedy, but this definitely breaks the mold.
The frame-by-frame animation is impressive, I love it. I always appreciate work the artists put into their movies.
I never got word back from you guys if you'd be interested in working on the Newground Jam. Kind of ironic that was submitted the same day this movie was submitted.
Anyway, keep this series alive. Newgrounds is in desperate need for art like this.

Review for "Spirited Away - Solitude"

I have never seen the animated movie this is based on, but watching this tribute compels me to hunt it down and see what it is like.
The graphics in this were very well done, the background especially was very nice. I don't know if you created it yourself or imported it, but it fit nicely (I'm hoping you painted it yourself). The character was very well done, but the style is based on someone else's work.

The story was short, but very conveying and I enjoyed it. It was really speaking without words, I understood the character's loneliness and solitude due to his existence of whatever he may be.

The animation was nicely done, though limited. Still, it was smooth and had a sense of true movement, you obviously know what you're doing.

Overall, a very nice and short story. (I raised the score to 3.79)

Maurizio responds:

Why thank you.
I guess I should really edit the end credit into saying all artwork done by me - minus the painting. *shrug* well, it's version 0.8, meaning it's not the complete version..so more like version 0.7, heh

Death to the Fast Food Industry

The graphic elements and animation were decent. However the topic and message this movie was conveying was good and well executed. On top of that I very much agree with the message: People are eating too much fast food.

People think eating that junk makes them happy. When they get older they'll realize just how bad off they are. There's a difference between growing old and growing unhealthy.

One problem, which is trivial, but I thought I'd bring it up none-the-less. Fat contains 9 kalories per gram opposed to carbohydrates and proteins which are 4 per gram. By my calculations if the character consumed 67g of fat then he should have had a total of 603 kalories instead of 1549.
Hee hee hee.

Maurizio responds:

Tommy, lemme just say...I am inpressed. Not only have you left a respectable review, but you are the only one who actually noticed the mistake I made with the carbs/kalories. It'd be nice if there were more intelligent people on this site like you...it just feels good that I know I can get a review without someone saying 'Fuck' ; )

No Summary

You should work on quality more than quantity, a shorter, but better looking movie would have been better. Focus on making it look nicer.
The sounds were really bad, that was really annoying. The voices were fuzzed and seemed too loud. Try working with sound engineering a little more to fix that. Although I did enjoy the Earthbound music in there.
The artwork looked really messed up. Work on style a little more and a cleaner look. Try using the pencil tool.

RogerregoRRoger responds:

Messed up?Hmmm, don`t know where everone is talking about, but i guess i take a look.I do use the pencil.
Guess i have to follow everyone`s example and just draw every character once and reuse them a zillion times instead of drawing them over and over again.

Keep Trying

Although it's obvious you have no idea how to create a complete story nor draw much better than a gorilla, this was none-the-less a very good attempt for your level of experience.
Some suggestions: Stay away from tired jokes that have been overused mercilessly. The whole "I'm your father." gag has been done and redone since the Star Wars movies came out decades ago.
The ONLY original drawings I remember was the blood, and I have to disagree with the other reviewers, I liked the style of the blood (pretty silly). Though I found myself wondering if Kirby actually had blood... stay away from using blood, try going with puffs of clouds and stars like in the game. That doesn't mean stay away from action, Kirby is full of action and drama (in a lampooning way).
All in all, if you enjoy creating animated stories you should stay with it as you will get much better. You've got more talent than a lot of others trying their hand at video game parodies.

seikendensetsurules responds:

1. It's a friggin sprite cartoon, it's not SUPPOSED to have drawings in it, at least not many.
2. You can't really say I have the drawing talent of a gorilla after viewing about 2 drawings that aren't even supposed to look good.
3. What do you mean 'create a complete story'? It's a fight cartoon, there's not SUPPOSED to be a story.
4. Finally, I know some of the jokes were old - however, you should have noticed that I was actually subtly poking fun at how much they had been overused.

I think you need to rethink what the phrase 'Sprite Movie' actually means, then you can review sprite movies.

Agonizing

The traced images were barely animated.
I'm so sick of video game characters doing drugs, it wasn't funny the first time, and it won't be the next million times.

Im sorry how old are 22, 23? Well I really think you need a life im making fun of kirby cuz hes so stupid and I didnt trace tose idiot!

No Substance

This looks like something you wanted to get out of your head and onto Flash. It had no substance and really shouldn't have been submitted. The shape tweening looked like an attempt at "drawing under the camera" but I couldn't tell because it didn't turn out that way.

LegendaryFrog responds:

I agree with you that I just wanted to get this out of my head, but I don't see why it shouldn't have been summited. Don't blame me, blame the many people who wanted to see it on NG.

Is It Animated?

I enjoy dark humor, but the total lack of animation was a contributing factor that ruined this.
One of the few movies with dark humor that didn't even make me smile.
As much as I enjoy a roasted child, I'd still take a tofurky over a dead bird anyday.

fourchinnigan responds:

Understood. I threw this together in a few hours as a way to say "Happy Thanksgiving." It's not an opus by any stretch.

Improvements

I guess the most important thing would be to spell correctly and keep the words up on screen long enough for the viewer to actually read them.
Then study long and hard all things art. After that, create a dozen more animations and submit the best of those.
